pumpkin people in Riverview

It was a lovely day and Anitha and I decided on lunch at Homestead in Riverview and seen
the pumpkin people at various locations.  There were not as many this year as in the past but the
ones on display were very nice.

Well according to Cindy Day we are heading into a stormy wet weekend so get the snow boots out.
I hope tonight is a warm evening for little ones going out door to door for Halloween......because kids
are kids no matter what the weather is they go go go..

on the weekend past we had pumpkin cake at Kiley and Angela's and I wanted to share the recipe
which is delicious :

Pumpkin sheet cake

Beat 16 oz pure pumpkin, 2 cups sugar,1 cup oil
Add 4 eggs, lightly beaten
In separate bowl combine 2 cups flour, 2 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp cinnamon. 1/2 tsp salt.
Combine mixtures and beat well

Grease cookie sheet - Bake 25-30 min on 350

Icing:
1/4 c soft butter, 4 oz soft cream cheese,
add 2 c icing sugar and 1 tsp vanilla
Beat until smooth

Can be frozen as it makes a lot....

I plan on trying it out this weekend......

Have a good weekend, see you Monday

Lunch in LaHave

Turning left as you drive off the ferry, a stop at LaHave Bakery is a must.  Housed in a Victorian-era sea-trading centre in the 17th century French settlement of LaHave, the bakery produces traditional breads made from locally grown, fresh milled grains.  Sandwiches, soups, coffee and other yummy treats await your road trip cravings.

I had a bagel with smoked salmon on cream cheese, Yum..... I was so glad I ordered it.
We did a little tour of the building and was so taken with the building, you had to go downstairs to go
upstairs to washrooms with the old wood floors, and I loved the sinks they had to suit the room.

On the trip back to Kiley and Angela's we went the highway........they had some mussels they cooked
outside to start the meal off and fresh haddock buns and a big salad.....pumpkin cake for dessert.

A game of 45's topped off the night..............Morning was off to the train and home.

We sure were given a wonderful time with these two beautiful people...Thanks Guys....

On to Mahone Bay

After leaving the Market we went on to Mahone Bay for a lovely tour of many craft
shops and little Tea shop which Pat D was happy to find.

The three churches

Mahone Bay

The three churches are very well known to tourists and not much had changed in the area
since I was there with Mom and my daughter a number of years ago. Many tourists were still
out and about and they all knew I would be snapping pictures along the way.

We also went through Chester Nova Scotia, an area I always wanted to see over the
years.  Chester is where you have heard of the Series Haven being filmed.

and on we went to Bridgewater and LaHave.......

Paula dropping in this AM for a coffee..... nice of her to drive 1 1/2 hrs just to have coffee with me. lol...............

Kelly Pat Kiley and Me.....

Well we sure were given a tour of Nova Scotia by Kiley and Angela and treated like royalty the
entire weekend.  On Friday we visited Pats sister in law Marilyn and David Geggie for the afternoon and I
knew them both from Miramichi.

Had a lovely supper with friends coming out for a fun night of cards and John Hudson (also from Miramichi) had
us in stitches as we played 45's into the evening.

Woke the next morning to a great breakfast before heading down to Hubbards for a indoor /outdoor market

Travelling  on to Bridgewater area.......... tomorrow...

Pumpkin faces

Hello, well its pumpkin time again and I was able to snap a few pictures of
faces I seen this week.

Weather changed a bit so a little chilly walking but feels so good especially the
coffee after the walk, so long as a muffin or donut does not go with the coffee. lol..

Heading to the movies tonight, really anxious to see "The Best of Me"....hope its
not full when we get there.

Heading off to Halifax with my friend Pat and her daughter Thursday so no blog for
a few days.  We are travelling by train so should be fun.  Looking forward to it.

falling leaves

Supervisor sits in the tree giving the orders of racking the leaves to his standards. lol  Then watch
out , he is ready to make the jump...  These are actually pictures taken previously but had to share
after deleting photos in earlier blogs.

Friday was rain.......who cares when there is a hockey game in the evening. Malcolm was out the
door in a flash and I made banana breads.

A drive through the park

It was a canopy of colors as we travelled through the park.  The playground was full of
children as it was a beautiful day and the view of the golf course from top of the hill was
great.

We travelled down the road to third Vault falls , I certainly remember walking that trail years
ago and its not easy.  We travelled on through the park remembering some fun times there
picking blueberries, blackberries and cranberries and teaching the kids to drive on those old roads.

Of course we stopped by Harbour View restaurant for homemade soup and a roll and dessert at
Kelly's bake shop..

On the road to home, snapped another picture of the beautiful Mums and the tree across the street.

Sights along the coast

As we continued our journey we came across the tree full of shoes, really
surprised to find it sitting in s field with a few cows roaming around. The
sign read Walk for hope.. really neat.

Our next find was the Ha Ha Cemetery and that is the true name of it.
We walked through the grave sights and tried to read some of the head stones,
they were all different sizes and some only had a little stone with 3 initials.

Then we came to the house we once looked at, young and crazy we
thought it would be a great place to retire to one day till my uncle Gregory took
a look and said the old stone wall around it probably will be long gone before you
ever retire. lol  But its still standing .  But not a place to retire to by any means...

And on we went to Alma  and the Park..
