The under 18 winning team

graduating boys from under 18 league

Well it was an exciting day, 12 hours the kids stayed at Sackville Mount Allison University playing for the Memorial Cup and both the under 18 and under 15 New Brunswick teams won the title.

We intended to attend one game Saturday but the excitement got to us and we took in all three games
and were so glad we did get to see Trent and Garret playing their final games together for this title.
Trent moves into the mens league next year and Garret goes on for another 2 years at this level.

I was shocked to see my cousins there from Hampton their son playing on the under 15 team. I
imagine we have been at games prior and didn't even realize it. lol  Today I finally met up with them.

Congratulations Trent and Garret, wonderful ending to a season and so glad we could be part of it.

the birthdays

Last night we celebrated the two birthdays which were this past week, Susan and Malcolm. Kids came over for a BBQ and had both chicken and hamburgers for supper while I had a fish taco.

I got a cake at Super store, put it in the dining room and didn't think anything of it till we were putting candles on and one side of cake was melting from the sun. should have been in the fridge.
Susan lit the candles herself, I could not work that lighter.

Below is a picture a friend put on facebook of the bridge to PEI , love the hay piles in front.

The caves

The caves of St Martins are very interesting to see but you have to go when its low tide.  Of course I spotted a few rocks that were interesting and had Malcolm and Kate carrying a few for our yard outside.  Malcolm was showing people a few periwinkles, a small edible snail that you take a needle and remove the snail to eat... I loved them as a kid.

We certainly ended the day by getting our feet wet crossing over to the caves but that was ok, brought extra sneakers.

We ate supper at the Tides restaurant and it was lovely, nothing fancy but cozy.  Mal had a lobster roll, I had fish burger and Kate had fish and chips.  After we left the restaurant we went to a few gift shops.  Must say the two we visited were totally different.  Yes of course I BOUGHT a few things I
liked.

Outside one there was the old car in picture, actually its going to be the local tour and taxi for the area.  The gentleman who owned both the gift shop and car moved to St Martins after visiting last year and falling in love with the place.  He also has 2 small apartments to rent daily or weekly and is full till sept.  He stays open in winter for snowmobilers who come to do the trail.

It was also old home week in St Martins and after I got home found out an old friend from Saint John was there and I have  a cousin who also stays for the summer there.

Fundy Trail Parkway

more stairs today

beach

the falls

great view

colourful insect moving along

wild roses were everywhere

This was the first part of the trail leading down to the flower pots, Kate came along today and
enjoyed the trail as much as we did.  St Martins has certainly grown a lot since we have been there
and today the town was buzzing as it was old home week.

The falls

These were the stairs leading to the falls and I climbed them without a problem but with a few stops along the way.lol  They were actually pieces of wood that moved as you stepped on it. lol

The falls were so pretty and just wished we could have stood under them.

interpretive center

lots of historic photos of the community of big salmon river.  The also showed a film of the area of
the wood mill etc.... The moose in picture  is called Mitch after Mitch Franklin who had the dream to see this project through years ago.  My parents both worked for Mitch Franklin and Malcolm's great aunt dated him years ago. (He could have been a relative). lol

Suspension Bridge

It was 84 m and we had to cross over it.  A max of 10 people at a time.  of course Malcolm
got it shaking a bit as we crossed.  One lady had to carry her good size dog over.  You see
another dog very anxious to hit the water by the bridge and he enjoyed a great swim.  kids also were
taking advantage of a swimming hole.

The beach

Reminded me of the Alma beach where there was always a log to sit on and look out at the tides coming in and out , I used to find it so peaceful sitting down there and thinking or writing as many people did.  Lots of people were on this beach walking about.

A great way to spend the day......
