Huntington Park
summer house 42 rooms |
The garden area in center of house |
We ventured over to the summer estate, all brick with bars on windows designed by Mrs Huntington. She was a sculpture and he wrote poetry. Across the road at Brookgreen gardens are all the sculpture pieces she made which we toured a few years back.
The summer residence seen here consisted of 42 rooms, the staff had there own area to live attached to main house, every room had a fireplace. When we looked at it reminded us of a prison. the house went in a half circle and in the center was the gardens.
Here the two of us had to sit in the big chairs for a picture and of course I fell right into it.. lol

Huntington Beach
It was a lovely day to head to Huntington State Park, have been planning on going for years but never
got there..................But we went and today and walked 2 miles along the shore. It was pretty easy walking on hard sand as well as my sketchers which I love..
The trails were a bit wet for walking (which didn't bother me at all after 2 miles of beach walking)so
we headed to the Huntington estate still standing for a tour.
When we returned home we headed to Paula and Laurie's for a lovely salmon supper followed by a game of sequence .. Yes Men won BUT only by 1 game.

surprise surprise
We got an e-mail from Dave Gammell on Sunday. "Going for a little drive" may reach Myrtle Beach, whats your phone number?" By Sunday night we never heard from Dave and Anna so figured Dave as usual fooling around until.............................Monday morning there is an e-mail. "We are here". lol
Met them for lunch and asked them if they would like a little tour of the area so we tried to hit most of areas they would want to see and show Anna where the shopping areas were. (not far at all from where they are staying, )lol...
We are heading to State Park today , never have been there and to Paula and Laurie's later for supper.
Will meet up with Dave and Anna again in a few days.

Charleston continued
A slave home |
oldest house in Charleston |
Jail |
Sub from Civil war |
Police were everywhere in Charleston |
Our carriage awaits |
Gary and Paula |
We did really see a lot in one day, Plantation, Market, carriage ride through town and of course lunch which was delicious.
As many of you already know there was a shooting in Charleston by a police officer (who was later arrested) for shooting a man in the back 8 times for a broken tail light, probably more to story but we sure seen police everywhere today.
Found out after I returned at 10 pm... that Mary Jayne and Boyd ended up in Charleston for the night, they travelled further than they even expected.
It was a great day...

Wax Museum
New to the area was the wax museum so of course we wanted to check it out to see if
it was as good as we heard and it definitely was. We had more laughs in one day going through the museum and we were really surprised that they allowed cameras in but they did so we snapped away.
This was Gary's second year to visit Myrtle Beach and I don't think he seen one thing the same as
his previous visit, on his departure his last words were "I'll be back", lol so new adventure awaits.
The wax museum will do very well in Myrtle beach and prices were good
