Well winter sure made an entrance to the area last night and snow continues on today. Think it may be a white Christmas for sure.
Mal went out and snapped a few pictures of the area and caught a photo of our friend Bill dragging out the snow blower to start the season off.
No school today so kids all home... Susan got a performance award at work so made her day... Congratulations Susan...

Happy birthday Arathi
Arathi surprised us all with a visit from Ottawa for a few days and it just happened to be
her birthday so her Mom and dad got a cake for her.
She also got to go to Halifax for her Nieces birthday and surprised them all. Had a ball as the party was a makeup party for 19 6 yr olds.

Unfortunately I am a little late posting Arathi's visit but better late than never they say. lol
Had Anitha and Rama in this afternoon for a visit, they are feeling better after a good dose of the cold.
I found one of my favorite bars from years ago at Walmart over in the grocery section... A Flake Bar.

first snowfall of the season
On Friday we seen our first snowfall of the season and although many of us are
not happy to see the snow come , we always enjoy that first glance when everything
is white.
Trent was going to hockey with grampie so had to snap a picture of him under everyone's
favorite tree we take so many pictures under every season.
Sadly on Saturday our wonderful neighbour Shirley Robinson passed away, We always
enjoyed seeing Shirley coming and going and having our chats across the fence. Shirley
LOVED my apple pies and it was a treat to make a few for her each Christmas to enjoy
at their family dinner.
Looking forward to lunch with my friend Kim from Miramichi, Kim just
became a grandmother to a sweet little baby girl named Nora..... Andrea will love
having her Mom for the week.

Laurie was so pleased that I had one earl grey tea just for him, his favorite and to top
it off pumpkin cake which he really was surprised to try, his favorite. (Get the recipe Paula)..lol
Looking forward to seeing them in December for our Christmas get together.....

Football with St. Mac's against Moncton
Despite the cold Malcolm's cousins were on board to watch St. Mac's against the team from Moncton
playing for the championship. Moncton won but St Mac's held their own for quite awhile.
We took Kate and Trent to the game but it was so bitter cold I didn't last past first quarter, Erin and Ryan came back to the house for a hot cup of tea before heading home and the kids got a chance to get together to talk about their favorite games they play on their I-phones......Ryan and Kate both graduate this year.
A stop at the mall which was a crazy place to be on a Saturday for a bite before taking .Trent home for his hockey game, he came back for a sleepover with the hopes Nan would make chocolate chip cookies but he settled for a good movie..Hercules

Happy birthday Nana
Happy birthday to a wonderful grandmother who showed only love and kindness to
all who knew her.
So many memories over the years to share with our own grandchildren, stories to tell and
recipes to share. We are so thankful for all those good times.

Remembering the Fifties..
Well memories of the 50's , for many of us they can be different but some things never change like getting a black and white TV with a couple of channels to enjoy and of course the bunny ears to get as clear a picture as you could. Black and white photo's which you waited for the roll to finish to take to store to develop and you had no idea of what you took or how it turned out till you got pictures back.
I was born in the 50's, lived in a great neighbourhood where you knew everyone. Went to a catholic school with the same kids you seen at church every week and told the same sins at confession. Never went to church without something on your head and looked forward to the movies in church basement every Sunday and dances on Friday night and for the grown ups of course bingo night.
Taking a break from blogging for awhile.... may do only a couple a week till at least December.
Foods in the fifties
Curry was a surname.
A takeaway was a mathematical problem.
A pizza was something to do with a leaning tower.
All potato chips were plain; the only choice we had was whether to put the salt on or not.
Rice was only eaten as a milk pudding.

A Big Mac was what we wore when it was raining.
Brown bread was something only poor people ate.
Oil was for lubricating, fat was for cooking.
Tea was made in a teapot using tea leaves and never green.
Sugar enjoyed a good press in those days, and was regarded as being white gold. Cubed sugar was regarded as posh.
Fish didn't have fingers in those days.
Eating raw fish was called poverty, not sushi.
None of us had ever heard of yoghurt.
Healthy food consisted of anything edible.
People who didn't peel potatoes were regarded as lazy.
Indian restaurants were only found in India.
Cooking outside was called camping.
Seaweed was not a recognised food.
"Kebab" was not even a word, never mind a food.
Prunes were medicinal.
Surprisingly, muesli was readily available, it was called cattle feed.
Water came out of the tap.
If someone had suggested bottling it and charging more than petrol for it, they would have become a laughing stock!!

The one thing that we never ever had on our table in the fifties ......
"Elbows Or Phones.
