Groundhog Day

Will Mr. Groundhog see his shadow?

We had quite the snowfall yesterday, looks pretty today but driving probably was a bit slippery this morning.

I stayed in and had a great day in my scraproom and made 2 banana breads, and I don't know if I shared my recipe or not with you but I'll give it once again because its so simple... may sound weird but its good I promise.

Banana bread

1 cup miracle whip
1 cup bananas ( usually 3 bananas)
2 cups white flour
3/4 cups white sugar
2 tsp baking soda

Bake 350 for 55 minutes.... I usually let it go 1 hr because my pan is bigger than
average bread pan

Thats it, simple and believe me delicious... got the recipe from friend in Miramichi and its very popular up there.

The Butcher Uncle Calvin

Yesterday was a special day for Malcolm's cousin Cindy, she was passed at Council in Saint John to open up her new shop in the City Market, "The Butcher's daughter Craft Shop".

Family and Friends were so happy for Cindy as we all know The Butcher is her dad, Calvin MacKenney who had a stall himself in the city market for many years, not far from where Cindy's shop will be. Calvin would be so honored to see what his little girl has done and I hope she suceeds as her dad did for many years.

Memories come back of see Calvin in the market, his family working beside him , Nana use to make her famous fishcakes on Friday and they sold out in no time. The first thing Malcolm asked me this morning is if I had a picture of him in the stall but unfortunately I don't , I would love to pass something like that on to Cindy for her shop but I imagine one of his family members have such a picture.

So if your in Saint John visit the Butcher's daughter in the city market, you won't be disappointed. Cindy was our flower girl at our wedding.

Hands

Up early this morning, have to put these hands to work. Tomorrow we head into February and I got lots of birthday cards to write up for my friends celebrating their special day. We also plan to go to Susan's later to finish up some painting her father is helping her with.

Last night we had the kids for supper, They had such a busy day with appointments and Susan's day off flew by in no time so I stayed home and prepared supper before they rushed off for Trent's hockey game. One appointment they had was finding out Kate's braces come off in a few months, Trent's braces go on in a few months.... it never ends and there still is Garret to go.

While reading some favorite blogs today I came across this story of the importance of hands and how they play such an important part of our life. The picture of the typewriter reminds me of something I have loved and dreamed of doing since I was a child TYPE.....could not do it without these hands. Enjoy

A story to share::

Before going to a friend’s house last night, I gave myself a manicure. I was taking a gift, but I couldn’t wrap it till the polish dried. I couldn’t get dressed, either, or work on my hair. I stood in the bedroom, fanning my hands in the air, helpless without them.

Hands. Those miraculously designed tools I used this morning for everything from hammering a picture hook into the wall to tying my shoelaces. Sensitive, strong, flexible, adaptable, surely the human hand is one of God’s most awesome creations!

Our life stories could be told as the record of what our hands have touched. These hands have held babies and washed dishes and worn rings, held flowers and pencils, scrubbed floors and gripped the hands of strangers.

What if they could do none of these things? I have a paraplegic friend whose fingers are curled against his palm. Watching him struggle just to hold a spoon or turn the page of a book, I think I’ll never again take for granted the matchless dexterity of “ordinary” hands.

But, of course, I do. Within an hour, mine are performing a hundred needed functions quite unnoticed. Until, that is, a coat of nail polish interrupts their activity long enough to remind me that hands are also active when they’re folded in a prayer of gratitude.

Good Morning, Its Monday

Boy the weekend went fast but I am back as promised with a few new pictures and some scrapbooking I got done this weekend.

Kate and her Mom went for a lovely walk yesterday and both girls enjoyed it and Gilbert loved it, he loves getting out in the woods. It was a great day for a walk.

There were hockey games both Friday and Saturday night so Mac and the guys were there, it was stormy Friday so didn't expect a crowd at the rink but still 3500 were in attendance. I enjoyed a quiet evening in my scrap room with the TV in front of me, computer to my left and heat.... lol.

Sunday was cooking day around here and Malcolm made Macroni and meat , chili and subs.

I finally used my Heritage cartridge with my layout to make the fence by Kate and the lamp post.... background is a dollie you buy at dollar store so not too much spent for a nice layout.

Where are you snow?

Its 10 AM and no snow yet but its there, sky is as white as snow. lol..

Had Kate for Supper, of course she wanted Mac and Cheese which she got. We then took a trip to Walmart as she wanted to learn to knit. Well that was something, got the yarn and needles ok but oh I am no teacher, I have no patience. Hopefully some of her friends will show her how its done. She also wanted to scrapbook, great...
She did 1 page, it wasn't bad but I forgot to take a picture of it. Now to clean the scrapbook room.

Pillows are on sale today at Atlantic Super Store, got a coupon in the flyers yesterday and Malcolm gone to get them now. My friend Pat e-mailed me this AM to remind me as she knows how much I enjoy them. Even the grandchildren love those pillows and have 1 on each of their beds. Now Susan going to get some for her bed.
The price is 9.99 and another one for $1.00.

Will it snow tomorrow?

Thought it was a good day for a little humor,we all neeed it somedays. The question on everyones mind is Will it snow? Looks like a nice sunny day out there but could be the calm before the storm.

Had a visit from Sue and the boys last night for supper and Garret stayed with us
for awhile. I helped him with his lessons, another story. The question was "If you could change something about yourself what would it be?", you needed 3 different things. Well that was not easy for Garret as he is the perfect child, lol.... we ended up with Eat healthy, study harder, and grow taller..... haha.. I am sure the
teacher will get a kick out of that one.

Fellow is here fixing a few spots on the cupboards, I think Malcolm has him locked in till job is perfect.... seems like its not easy to please Mr. Mac these days especially after waiting near 9 months for them to come, why that is as long as you wait for a baby.... haha.. I think we are all high from the glue he is using...

Canadian Figure Skating championships

The Canadian Champsionships were held in Moncton last week and attendance from accross Canada filled the arena. I did not go myself, these pictures were taken by friends .

Another great day out there and here I am in the house. Malcolm off to get his insoles and hopefully they will do the trick to making walking easier and of course his golf game better than ever. lol

Unable to go to Miramichi the first of February but my friend Pat is coming down for a few days which I am happy about, we always have a great time and lot of laughs.

Sunday was not a bad day, sun was shining so we went over to see the kids and drop
off some goodies (ice cream bars).

Making a stew for supper, smells good. Malcolm gets his orothopedic insoles tomorrow so I pray they work to relieve stress off the bottom of his foot.

Started to tidy up scrapbook room, didn't get far but its looking better. Its raining a bit today so no adventures out.

Time Hortons supersize their cups

Changes are being made to Tims coffee cup sizes but not the prices, they are adding the 24 oz size for extra large. Now I know I love my coffee but if I drank that much perked coffee all at once I would wear a smile all day....

Took Kate to lunch on Saturday, she wanted to go to St. Huberts, I really was not impressed with it at all, Malcolm liked their chicken wings but their prices are high.

Met Edna and Reed at Costco and had a great chat, she brought us brown bread and donuts and the kids were happy that we dropped over to their place and bring the treat.

I added a couple of pictures of the Rideau Canal skating rink in downtown Ottawa,a place I would like to see either in spring when the tulips are out or the winter, just a visit to see the capital.

I also watched the movie this weekend called Unfinished business with Robert Redford, Jennifer Lopaz and Morgan Freeman, a cute story.

Remember.....Life does not come with instructions but a pause button would be nice!!!

Home of course is Moncton but where are we from Saint John and Saint John is where we were last night. Bobby sure had lots of family and friends paying their respects
and we were so glad we got down. its sad when it seems the only time you see everyone is at a funeral parlor even more so than a wedding.

As usual I went out to lobby and there I met someone from home, (Moncton) but who I grew up with in Saint John, I teased him and asked if he was following me. lol This guy came from a family of 18 and yet he seems to be the only one I meet where ever I go.

The picture I am sharing today is the good old southend in Saint John, my house was the red one on very bottom of picture on left side, I am so surprised it was updated and still remains. Malcolm's house was the blue one you see when you look in behind my house, in between the 2 large buildings. We were close and only took a minute to get to each others place. I have this picture on my desktop as a reminder of the good old days.

Its so bitter cold here today, hope it warms up later on as we are travelling to Saint John for a wake and it will be late tonight when heading home.

As I look at the dates on calendar I realize its near time to start thinking about trying on those summer clothes and getting organized for Myrtle Beach. Malcolm got a list started of all the things to do yesterday. Not much more news to report today . See you all tomorrow.

Garret's project

Yesterday I went to my daughters for most of the afternoon and when Garret came home from school I helped him with his homework. He was excited to share a story with me he wrote and I thought he did a great job so wanted to share with you, got a kick out of the snowman being called Mr. Carrot..

Trent jumped in for a picture with his brother and I snapped a shot of them acting out, looks like Garret was really giving him a punch but with Trents smile you can tell its fake. lol..

Well off to see my Orothopedic surgeon this AM, boy they all know me there, my file is getting bigger all the time. We discussed my knee I had the wedge over 4 years ago and he said that as things stand now my knee is bone on bone but does not pain like it did before the wedge therefore I can live with it like that or go for replacement. I decided I would have the surgery which probably would be 2 years down the road even though he says 1 year (I have heard that before). At least now I am on waiting list no matter what I decide. Love the new clinic they have, so much faster and more private.

Its Tuesday Garbage Day....lol

Well if that title does not intrigue you nothing will, lol..

Last night it was cold outside and around 9 o'clock I reminded Malcolm that the garbage had to go out, before I knew it he was out there putting it by the side of the road. When he came back into the house I told him I would have put it out but he didn't give me a chance , knowing his foot was bothering him. Around 11 o'clock Mr. Mac appeared on the stairs and said, "What day is this"? , Tuesday.... think again Pat, Oh my God, its Monday, its not garbage day so I went out to bring back the trash to the garage to save face. lol.... later He reminded me that when he looked out the window and seen no one else had put bags out did he remember its Monday.

It looks like snow today, we are off to Riverview to watch the boys this afternoon while Susan is with Kate at Doctor. Malcolm also has an appointment with a doctor to see about his foot at 3:15, hope they soon find out what is causing him pain, I told him if he does not stop limping he will be joining me in knee surgery.

Smash book

Slow Cooker Stoganoff
Steak cut up in bite size pieces
fresh mushrooms
french onion soup mix
Worcestershire sauce about 1 Tbsp
... 1/4 cup ketchup
enough water to just cover the steak(maybe a bit less.
1 can golden mushroom soup
cook on low for 5 hours, then add small container of low fat sour cream and let cook for another 3 hours on low. Serve over egg noodles or pasta of choice.
I use enough steak and mushrooms to feed 5 of us and have left overs.

A good recipe my cousin was making yesterday in Riverview and she put the recipe on facebook so I am sharing with you, I can't wait to try it. This gal is a good cook.

It was a good weekend, yesterday we went to Susan's in the afternoon, Malcolm kept the boys busy while I had my hair done by Susan.

Sharing a few pages from my smash book, it will be fun to do in Myrtle Beach... a little different from scrapbooking layouts.

Its cold outside but sun is shining bright.... Off to get x-ray soon, have to return to Dr. Clark on Wed to see about possibility of knee surgery in a few years (waiting list is that long) on other knee.

The Bay Store is closing April 21st/12

We had just had a discussion the other day about the prospect of What will happen to the Bay? Recently we were downtown and went up to the restaurant on the second floor of the Bay and sat by the windows looking out at the downtown area (a sight I have always loved especially at christmas).

There have been great buys this christmas and we made a few purchases especially the dishes for Susan, got them for 50% off, a very unexpected purchase but much needed, the other day I noticed those same dishes were 75% off, I knew something was up. I will definately miss my christmas visits to the Bay... A memory I will have like MRA's in Saint John...

Well the snow came last night and covered the streets so plows were out in full force. The children of course were hopeing for NO SCHOOL along with the teachers, lol but Susan's wish came true there was school.

Ritchie wharf in winter

Loved the picture of Ritchie Wharf, many times I ventured down there in summer while living in Miramichi especially when grandchildren came to visit. Different bands played music and children enjoyed the playground, now the winter scene makes a beautiful picture to admire.

Did another scrapbook page while Malcolm out to hockey, his foot is still quite tender but it does not stop him when it comes to hockey, he really enjoys the games.
This layout is for Paula and Laurie's book, that is 2 pages done for them, I am way ahead. lol... now hopefully we will continue on with pictures from Myrtle Beach, which is where they will be arriving later today. The temperatures have been good there in the 60's so they will definately be in short sleeves.

Expecting snow later today so no plans for us, we will stay put and enjoy the day.
Note: I have not added journaling to my layouts yet, will do all at once.

An evening with friends

Had a lovely evening with Bruce and Debbie Walls who were staying at the Casino for the night, a gift from the Casino for those players who visit from time to time. We started the evening at Boston Pizza and later went back to their room (shown here).
As you can see Mac is showing the size of the shower, can you imagine a shower that big. lol.... Could have a party in there.

I was so surprised to see they had a Keurig coffee machine in each room, that must be expensive to furnish each room with but I enjoyed my Keurig coffee last night a treat from the Casino. If your in the casino room they have free coffee for everyone but we didn't venture there.

Got an e-mail from Paula and Laurie, they made it to Sturbridge Mass last night and are on the road again heading south, they missed this cold morning we had today.

Garret back in school today, feeling a bit better.

Did a scrapbook page for Paula and Laurie's book, a little change from just Myrtle Beach pictures next year. (got to have change)....

Hello, well another beautiful day and we went to mall for awhile and got groceries before heading home.

Decided I had better do some scrapbooking of christmas pictures and keep up to date and did a page for Garret's book and my own book... I also started my stash book which I will share later.

Malcolm made a pot of macroni and meat and it was so good at supper time.

Busy day tomorrow, Bruce and Debbie Walls coming to Moncton for the night and we are meeting them for supper and a few laughs. Debbie worked with Malcolm for many years.

Good morning, well weekend went fast didn't it, had Garret here for a few days and he is feeling much better. We did take him out to store on Saturday so he could buy a used game for their x box , he is pretty careful with money compared to the other 2 and wanted to know what the tax was for. Once you tell him he does not forget.

Weather was beautiful and even with a bit of snow it was pretty to see it. Paula and Laurie are leaving on Tuesday for Myrtle Beach, gee time went fast, they will have a good trip with this weather.

cooked a roast for sunday supper, it smelled so good all day in slow cooker and meat was so tender,really enjoyed it.

TGIF Day......

Hi Everyone, well its been quiet around here, we have Garret for a few days and I have to say today he is feeling much better but still has a terrible cough. He napped last night on the couch and of course when it came to bedtime he was not tired, I went to bed and he woke me at 4:30 saying I cannot sleep. I told him to count sheep... lol. he did fall asleep and slept till after 10 this AM. Now I have him up in bedroom watching a new release I downloaded on computer, Transformers, the new moon.

Nirupama set me up on Ice Movies, all the new releases come on there and its great to see movies that were just in theatres a short time ago.

Here is a picture of Cheers in Boston my cousin took, I always loved that show and would love to see the restaurant, probably never will but you never know, I have gotten Malcolm to take a side trip to Washington before and to visit the Amish so I will not give up hope. lol

Gilbert is out in the woods for a walk, Susan has a terrible time walking him in neighbourhood on a lease, she bought a special leash for him and he ended up scratching up his nose so its back to the woods for a walk.

Lazy day

A dear friend in Ontario sent me these pictures and I had to share with you, the ginger bread cake looks so good.... and has a different look from the traditional ones and look at that doggie curled up by the slippers, Marg's christmas slippers...so cute.

Well last night we got a call from Susan that Garret went to the clinic and they think he has phenomenia, going for chest x-rays this morning. We offered to bring him here for a few days rest but I guess he is staying home for now, Dad is off this week so he is keeping them entertained.

I had coffee with Sandy this AM, got caught up on all the news. lol...seems we are never lost for words.

Great sales at The Bay, went down yesterday with Anitha and Nirupama and we had lunch and I picked up a couple of gifts for Miss Kate for this year sometime.

Anitha's birthday

Went to Anitha's to celebrate her birthday, had a nice steak supper and birthday cake with Mango topping...

Enjoyed a few nice days with Trent, he came over for a few nights and help take down the tree yesterday. I walked into the living room just as he was showing Grampie how he could make it in the world book of Guinness for holding the most christmas bulbs in one hand, lol.... He is sure he topped the record. I have to scrapbook that one for sure.

The tree is down, decorations are put away for another year and as usual you always find that one or two items that never went away. This year it was the table clothes and runner that didn't make it so not bad at all.

Weather is still good, crossing our fingers that it remains that way till we head south.

Malcolm Sr is still limping around, Rama thinks it is gout but Malcolm going to Doctor tomorrow to get results of x-ray he had and something hopefully stronger for the pain. (I told him if he keeps limping he will be getting a new knee as well).....

Polar bear dip

My cousin decided he would participate in the Polar Bear Dip in Saint John this year held at Mispec beach, thank goodness the weather agreed with them as far as temperatures went.

John's wife Margaret put the pictures on facebook and I had to share with you as he is the first relative I know of that did the dip on New Years day.

We took tree down today with the boys helping out, didn't take too long and I think it looks so bare after the holidays but its done for another year.

It was a good christmas and I did enjoy every moment of it, the food, friends and family made the days extra special.

Happy Birthday today to Anitha, we are going there for her birthday supper tonight.

A new beginning, a new year....

Have had my grandson Trent for the night and its been a lazy day for us, should have taken down the tree but expecting company today so wanted to wait till they had a chance to see christmas at the MacKenney's... lol..

We seen the new year in through CTV in Halifax and it was a good show they put on with lots of good music. The rain had stopped so made for a nice evening for folks to get out and enjoy.

Malcolm Jr went to a wedding and he said he had a great time, met people from our old neighbourhood and people he use to work with so he stayed right till the end. I woke up at 4 in the morning and the house was all lit up, The boys fell asleep but forgot to turn off lights.....I got up and cover Trent and he stayed on the couch all night, heaven knows when he fell asleep.

its new Years Eve, all is quiet at the MacKenney's this evening waiting for 12 o'clock to begin the start of 2012. I am sure many of you have made resolutions, some will carry them through the year and others will forget the idea by day 2 or 3, whatever your choice I hope 2012 is a good year for everyone.

Friday night and its starting to quiet down for most people. The men are off to the hockey game tonight and again tomorrow and Kate and her friend Madison went along tonight, first time for Madison to attend a game.

This afternoon I went shopping for awhile with Anitha and her daughter her from Toronto, we hit some great sales. First of all the coupon you see here was used today for me to get my coffee for my Keurig machine, I got 18 cups for 6.73. Got Malcolm Jr to go tonight and get another one. Got a couple of sweaters out at sears and if you used your card you got an additional 40% off... I was A happy camper. lol.

Final Pictures of Christmas

Still had pictures of christmas to share with you, now to order copies and start back up on my scrapbooking and try to start 2012 from where I left off and while ideas are in my head.

Went to Fredericton this AM with Sue, Kate and Madison (friend of Kate's) to see Dr. Ferro and good news is that Kate's results were excellent and show no sign of swelling in the kidney's, does not need to see her for 2 years. She came flying down the elevator excited and ready for the mall to spend those gift cards.

We headed to Regent Mall and in no time she had Jeans, tops, stretch pants and even a new jacket so money was gone but Kate was happy. We had lunch and headed on the highway for Moncton, Well.... a little detour towards Miramichi for a moment. lol..

Malcolm had busy day at home, grocery shopping, returns, etc.... His foot has swollen up again so back to the ice....No idea whats causing this but its the second time he has had problem. Till tomorrow.... a good night to all.

Christmas Day

We had a great christmas with the family, everyone arrived for dinner at noon and spent a relaxing afternoon with some christmas laughs and memories. Garret did pass out on the chair and believe me you cannot wake Garret when he decides to nap.. lol

We visited friends later in the day while our family went on to enjoy another meal at Rob's grandparents, Malcolm Jr and I enjoyed another christmas dinner and were stuffed by night.

Last night friends Bill and Sandy came over for supper, we cleared the table and played another game of sequence, yes the men won again..... but only by 1 game so we are getting better. lol

Today off to Fredericton with Sue for Doctor appointment.

Christmas Eve, opening of baskets

We are back after a lovely christmas for which we can all be thankful.

Christmas Eve we had the kids over for supper before they headed off to their other grandparents, (4 sets of grandparents to visit this year as The family from Ontario were visiting). For a change we decided to deliver the baskets to the family after their return to there home and I really enjoyed it.

Everyone was happy and Susan and Rob were tickled to get a sock to open christmas eve with a few of their favorites, candy, kitchen utencils, reading material, crosswords, and hot chocolate.

Arrived back home and relaxed in front of tree full of pretty colored gifts to admire.

Malcolm Jr was with us the whole evening but turned away for pictures....humbug.

Its done, all the layouts for Sue and Rob's book. Gifts were delivered yesterday to Riverview, seafood casserole made this AM , some visiting with friends this evening and its a go.....

Sadly we had bad news from Saint John that Malcolm's cousin Bobby Ryan died in a house fire this week, write up in Saint Johns paper this morning, Thank you Pat D for forwarding to us. Of course its all under investigation as to cause of death at this point but from what we gather Bob was smoking and fell asleep. No funeral till after christmas. Bobby leaves 3 brothers, he was never married.

We have come to a time for christmas dinner, 1 o'clock christmas day, works fine for all the family and then the children can continue on to Rob's parents for an evening supper, I remember those days. lol.. 2 dinners and FULL.....

Christmas baskets

Every year the highlight for the Cormier children is the basket we fill on Christmas Eve. For the past number of years we filled a basket with trinkets, mittons, socks and hats and a bit of candy too and they dug into the basket Christmas Eve.

This year we decided to really surprise them with a basket of their own. My real intention was to stop doing the basket but the grandchildren said it was the best part of christmas so with that I think we slightly went overboard this year.

I went to Super Store one day and there were baskets 50 cents each, that is where it all started, even some books in great shape from Value Village made the basket, where ever I found a bargain and this is the result.

Had a lovely lunch (buffet) at the Casino yesterday, compliaments of our son, Thank you Mal Jr. I was really surprised that it was not lined up but we got right in. Could not eat supper after that meal.

Yup, it is only a few more days away and I'm dreaming and wishing and hoping for a white Christmas. There is nothing like a little snow to keep the heart warm during the holidays.

I love the picture of the boys doing the tree, this was totally a mistake, I meant for the printer to do a 4x6 and it did a full page which I was not going to waste so here it is, cute.....one of my favorites.

The week before christmas

This is it, the push is on to finish those last minute items on the (to do ) list.
Last night I went to scrap room, very relaxed thinking I had 2 pages to do in the album for Sue and Rob and when I looked there were 5 pages to be done, WHAT HAPPENED!!, I could have sworn it was 2. Oh well the beat is on and it will get done.

Yesterday we went to mall, nothing in particular to get but when I picked up and paid for a couple of boxes I only got the tops, no bottom. I called the store and they assured me I could just drop in for the bottoms. Well, I went and what a big fuss they made, did you bring receipt? do you bring the tops? No!!, I figured you had my name on bottoms. I was ready to say forget it. The sales clerk kept harping that they have to account for every box and she had to be sure I had the top and paid for it. (I did get them in the end).. My only complaint of the season so far. lol....

Wrapping is done, tree is up and decorated so I guess I'll play Mrs Clause and wait for the big night.

Malcolm and I set our minds yesterday to wrapping and we did it, just maybe a couple of little things to wrap up for Malcolm Jr. It took all afternoon to work at it.

I added a couple of interesting pictures to show you, one is of a tree made of books, a scrapbooking gal actually made this tree using books she had around the house, just added lights.

The other picture is so beautiful I had to share with you, wouldn't you like to walk down that road some evening.

For me the best part of christmas is the preparation, once I have my gifts bought (which can be nerve racking) I love the trimming , the card receiving, the visit to the mall without anything in particular to buy, just looking, chances are you will come out with something. Have coffee with a friend and seeing old friends in the mall or hearing from someone from the past. Malcolm received a phone call from his old area supervisor, Pat Carew the other night, they talked for 2 hours or more. It had been a long time since we seen Pat and Jean (Who I worked with).

Today I am wrapping, No I didn't get to it last night, I enjoyed a little tv and the computer while everyone was out to Hockey and malcolm jr's christmas party for work.

A week to go till Santa flys overhead....... the pressure is on.

Sultana Cake

For a great number of years now I have made Nana's Sultana Cake recipe which was always a hit at Christmas time. A few friends have heard me mention it and asked for the recipe so here it is.

First of all I grease a round cake pan, another very old pan given to me by a friend over 30 yrs ago) Marilyn Woods.

Boil sultana raisins for 10 minutes and drain and let cool.

Set aside : 1 cup sugar
1 cup butter (softened) 1 also have used 2 blocks of Imperial Margarine.

Cream well.
add: 3 eggs, one at a time
1 1/2 cups of flour
3 tablespoons milk
dash of salt
1 tsp vanilla and 1 tsp almond flavoring
1 heaping tsp baking powder

add 1/2 cup of flour to 1 cup raisins and add to mixture.
Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees.

I let cake stand for a little bit before removing from cake pan.

Yesterday I took Trent to clinic for his yearly hearing test, of course he impressed them all and they look forward to his visit.

Well we had a few busy days but I am back.

Paula and Laurie and Pumpkin too came from Oromocto to exchange gifts. Later we all went up to Anitha and Rama's to meet them for lunch at the Casino and what a beautiful lunch it was, everything you could ask for.

While we were there Malcolm lost a filling so after lunch we headed to the dentist's office as this was a new filling, he was in the chair within 2 minutes and out in 5 minutes with a new filling, lol..

I shopped at Old Navy while he was in their and got a lovely pair of boots for Kate marked out drastically and I could not resist, 9.00 tax included, regular 39.99, she will love them.

Went to Garret's christmas concert at school, he played the shy act and would not look up at me but I got some good pictures of him for his scrapbook which I have to get busy with. Grampie did not go as he is coughing again and did not feel good.

Think today is a bake sultana cake day and gift wrapping.

Good morning, had a nice visit to Saint John yesterday and seen Uncle Don and my Aunt Margaret, both looked great and ready for the holidays.

We went to a Chinese buffet with Donnie, it was lovely and then off to Costco we went to get Donnie his ham for christmas and some goodies he picked up for friends.

Laurie and Paula arriving today from Oromocto and we are off with Rama and Anitha to lunch at the Casino.

Enjoy the tutorial on making the star, I bought one at craft sale and now I want to try one.

We survived the weekend, lol..

Had Kate, Garret and Gilbert for the weekend and even though we were kept busy it went good. Of course had to entertain so took Kate to Zellers via the bus on Friday night, she complained of the cold waiting but did enjoy the bus ride. I wanted to go to Walmart via the express bus but Kate said I talk to much to the bus driver so Zellers was ok. (Where in the world would she come up with that one.) haha...

You would never know that Gilbert was at the house, he was so good so long as you gave him a few pats on the way by and a few doggie bones for being good behavior. He settled very nice into the house and didn't bother the tree at all, he does like socks though.

We are off to Saint John today to deliver gifts to relatives. Think I had better call them to let them know. haha.

Trent had a blast in St. Andrews at the hockey tournament,they didn't make it to finals but the boys were all so good. Most of the teams gathered in Sue and Rob's room to be entertained by Trent.

Tree is decorated

We worked yesterday all day to get the tree up and decorated before the grandchildren arrived today for the weekend, both Garret and Kate and of course Gilbert are here till Sunday.

I didn't go with as many decorations as I usually put up but its fine for the time its up and looks good to us. We were invited last night up to Kattari's for coffee and met another couple there, had some good laughs. Susan called me on cell phone wondering where I was, "I left Gilbert by himself"?? No Susan, your brother is with Gilbert..... as though he has never been left alone before in our house. lol..

Garret missed our tree with all our usual decorations, I told him I had the same tree for 40 years and it was time for a change, I said he could pick out a few of my favorites and put on his tree.

Looking at the weather you would never guess that Christmas is only 2 weeks away and I am still without my tree up, thats not like me at all.

Its raining today and I hope I get the mood to start the living room and once I start maybe with some christmas music playing I will get in the spirit.

We went over to Susan and Rob's to watch the children decorate the tree, Kate had a friend from school there named Dakota, seems like a nice boy, very polite.

As you can see Mr Mac and Gilbert got comfortable on the couch watching the others work although Gilbert did like the taste of a few of the ornaments that went on the bottom of the tree. lol...

Finished off the scrapbook for Paula and Laurie, now waiting for their visit to Moncton. We plan on going to lunch at the Casino and meeting Rama and Anitha there
for a get together before Myrtle Beach.

Last night I did some wrapping for Saint John, another trip before christmas and hopefully before the snow starts flying, I am ready just waiting on Mr. Mac. May make a cake to take to my aunt, a Saltana cake. Have been making this cake for years from the recipes Malcolm's grandmother shared.

A few pages to go in my daughter's album and then it is complete. Sue and family have their tree up and decorated, have to get over to see.

It would be nice to see good things happen especially this time of year but not holding my breath. This morning I woke up at 4:30 feeling terrible, took a couple of gravel and fell back to sleep, don't know if I ate something or what. Did go out for a bit to Costco and while I was gone I had a visitor, Pat D came to Moncton to finish her shopping and planned on surprising us, (she thought being Monday we would be home). Sorry I missed you Pat. She called later that it was a short visit as she works tonight.

Got the cards done for out of town and mailed..great now maybe some wrapping tonight
and later in week the decorating. Just can't get in the mood. Have to head to Saint John soon and with this weather it should be soon.

Beautiful Dec day

You would never know it was December as we headed out this morning for the Riverview rink to see Trent play against an all girls team, it was a tie game. In the last few seconds the girls scored a goal to tie it up. It was a good game.

We left there and headed to return an item at the Bay and decided we would enjoy breakfast there, it was really good. I think a lot of others felt the same way as it was crowded. We even got out of there without buying a thing. horray...

Off to shoppers for stamps, I got most of my cards done now, but there are always some I forgot so have plenty on hand for emergency. Still do not know where we are putting the tree up, I want it downstairs but Mr Mac wants it upstairs and for some reason this year I really don't care. It will get done.

Its been a couple of days since I posted, sometimes its a little hard to get a computer on weekends between the 2 guys here. I don't like weekends anymore. lol.. I lose my seat, then my computer. not fair..

Susan came yesterday and we went to Shoppers to use the points, we always let her get a few things for the kids at christmas time for their stockings to save her buying it. We came back to the house and it was quite nice to sit around the table like the old days, just the 4 of us for a good chat.

Hi everyone,

Its a quick note tonight as we were out all day running errands and trying to get a few things to help our daughter out on her shopping list. Whow the traffic was unbelievable. People rushing everywhere. No malls for me the rest of weekend. lol.. BUT shoppers has there points shopping this weekend so probably will be there.

We left the house this AM at 9:30 and returned at 3:30, long day... Susan was happy as we did hit some good deals, right place, right time.

Tonight is the last night hopefully for Malcolm to go to hospital, they probably will give him pills to take for a few days and see him next week at clinic. His face has improved 100% and all I can say is thank goodness for the clinics that we
are able to get into when our doctors are not available. You may have to wait but you will get to see someone.

Missing in action for a few days, been out and about trying to get christmas shopping over with. I am now pretty much down to 2 socks to do..... on target of December 1st. lol

Malcolm continues to go to hospital for his intravenous, its much better and now he continues till Friday and then sees Doctor that evening at the hospital. Probably give him a few pills to take for a few days. He must be feeling better, he is back to his jokey self, right "BILL" . ( The guys had a little fun at their hockey game this week.)

Made Malcolm's favorite cookie, he enjoyed the treat after not eating much for a few days and thank goodness he feels better , it was a bit rough on me deciding "What's for supper". haha... Malcolm Jr was sure relieved Dad was back in kitchen.

My husband is feeling a lot better today although the infection seems to be on the other side of his face as well, when he went to the hospital this morning they said
give it a chance, you are feeling better and you see the doctor tomorrow. He never ate a thing yesterday but appetite is better today and we did stop over to see Susan for a few minutes.

Sandy and I walked to Tim's this AM, it was so nice out.Seen the mailman there again and teased him "I know what to give you for christmas".

Outpatients for Mac

Well not the day we had planned for sure, Yesterday Malcolm woke up with his face red and swollen and thought it was just the way he slept till he started getting chills and fever.

This morning we called for an appointment at clinic and got in at noon, doctor sent him directly to hospital to start on intravenous , he has to go back and forth twice a day for next three days till doctor sees him on Tuesday at the hospital. He has cellulitis, an infection normally treated with antibotics but he wanted to get it into his blood stream quick so decided on the intravenous for 3 days.

While at the hospital I wandered into Tim Hortons, gift shop , etc and after going back to sit with Mac a lady called me over and said she thought I had something on my pants, After turning me around she said "No", its a rip.... I could not believe it. Tried getting back and out of hospital with my purse covering my backside. Leave it to me... And they were my favorite pants. lol..

Anyway, On a good note Garret won his hockey tournment this weekend and got his ribbon, he was so pleased. Trent called me on cell phone to check on his grandfather and said "Nanny don't worry Mom took Pictures for you. ". lol...

busy weekend

It was busy with going to House of Lam on Thursday night with Royak Bank Gals rom Moncton and enjoying a lovely chinese dinner. It was great seeing everyone again.
Really missed Rosina at the dinner, she is usually the first one there.

Friday night it was a get together at the Kattari's, 80 people attended, I could not
believe that many people fitted in the house at once , some dropping in earlier. Anitha and Rama were very happy with with the turn out. I came home with some goodies at the end of the night.

Saturday I met Edna and her friend Cecile at Turner's Craft Sale, met others from Miramichi and Gary and Liz from Amherst They are going to go back to Myrtle Beach
this year so we will be seeing many Canadians we know in the area. After Turners we were to Pizza Hut and had a great lunch.

Malcolm woke this morning with a swollen neck and behind his ear. Looks like it may be a bug bite. He didn't move all day from the house.

Edna brought me goodies from her freezer for christmas.... I was so pleased and surprised . She is so giving and thoughtful.. Thank you again Edna.

A nice snowfall

The snow fell fast and traffic came to a hault, our street is always so busy but quiet yesterday. Schools were out at noon and some of the bus drivers were being very careful as roads got slippery fast.

I got a few cards ready for International and USA, really cut down this year but have not started Canadian cards yet. Now if I could get the mood for wrapping and buying rest of the gifts.

Supper was cancelled last night, its on for tonight at 6 so I'll go and see the gals
from the bank here in Moncton.

GOOD MORNING!

Well the snow has begun and coming down fast and furious.... I am not moving today, suppose to go out to House of Lam with the retirees from Royal Bank here in Moncton
but I decided I would not chance that on first snow storm of the year. It may not amount to much but I am not being careful.

The past two nights I have been in bed early, felt terrible so off I went with Hot water bottle, I didn't want to miss Dancing with the stars and Did wake up in time to see JR take the trophy.... So glad he won.

The children were all set to have their first day off today but mother nature fooled them so they went, boots on their feet and gloves on their hands. Susan got her wish for schools to be open. lol..

Short and sweet today, think I'll do some scrapbooking and maybe cards for International and US..

Senior's breakfast

Met Bev, Rosina and Sheila for breakfast at the Casino, 2.99 every Monday. It was really good and not crowded like we expected. We went for 8 AM, left at 11:00 and seen everyone lining up for lunch special 4.99 on Mondays.

Mentioned to the girls that I like to roam around Value Village and they suggested we go, could not find a parking spot and wondered what was going on. 50% off was the deal on clothing, shoes etc and it was busy. Got a nice purse, Rosina got a lovely bowl and Bev a picture frame which will be great for the old picture she has of her Mom.

Sheila and Bev are also from Saint John so of course we shared some stories and Bev gave me a page from Saint John newspaper showing where the convent next to my high school "Sisters of Charity" was being torn down... I was so surprised, its well over 100 years old and was an orphanage for the Irish Catholic children at one time.
Many of the articles within the house will move to new residence and I was pleased to
read that the beautiful stained windows are being moved to Miramichi, St Micheal's Basilica in Our Lady's chapel. Original house was built in 1865. Sad to see it torn down.

Hockey game tonight

Off to Garret's game in Dieppe tonight, he was so pleased to see us there but played the shy act coming out onto the ice. I dressed for cold rink and came with hat and gloves but it was so warm there I didn't hardly need a jacket on. They lost the game but they tried their best and had fun. (You can see Garret easily as only one with white helmet in gray jersey).

Went out this afternoon to do a bit of shopping and dropped into Value Village for a look at their books, Got 3 scrapbook magazines and 2 books for a friend who loves articles on the Royal family especially Diana and they were 29 cents each and if you bought 3 books you got a 4th one free, I was really happy as I didn;t expect such a find. Place was crowded with Sunday shoppers.

Heading out in the morning for breakfast with some gals who are retired from bank here in Moncton for seniors deal at the casino, going for 8 AM and hopefully not to packed as they charge 2.99 for a buffet breakfast another good deal.

Are youl thankful?

I was enjoying my friends blog this morning and as I read I could see
we had a lot more in common than I realized especially our childhood. I have lots of memories of my youth and I treasure them all. I decided I would put together some old pictures for my aunt Christmas, they show many buildings in the city no longer there and places we went together.

Made 2 meatloaf's for supper, will freeze one for another day unless its a hit and they eat it all, Its been a lazy day. We went to the mall which is getting really busy with shoppers for christmas.

Today as I am thankful for my childhood.....
I was a fiesty handful I am told but, Oh I have so many wonderful memories.
My Dad cut me no slack...Mom was the go to person, if you wanted something. Thank God for Mom!

Little snowfall

A pretty little snow fell last night but its still so beautiful out that it will be gone in no time. Didn't get time to blog yesterday, was on the go or maybe just a late start to the day like today. lol

Last night I did scrapbook this layout and it took all evening, I printed off a tape measure every 4 inches, distressed it and turned it into a flower, using buttons as my center, it was fun to create but time consuming.

Better get to some christmas shopping and get the grandchildren there gifts before they are all gone. Have a good weekend.

Here are some great ways of

Susan is still off work, took car in to have repaired and still no word on person who was involved in accident.

Shopping day

Up bright and early and went for my blood work, hardly anyone there this AM and I was in and out. Stopped to see what the gals were selling in the lobby, whow, some beautiful stuff. One woman made homemade capes and they were beautiful but I am too short to wear something like that.

Went and picked up a couple of christmas gifts and got myself a new wallet. Decided to change things into new wallet and thank goodness I did, my visa was missing. What a panic. Malcolm was out so I was emptying my purse , running to computer to check to see where I last went shopping that I used Visa, Thank goodness I was very fortunate to find it on first call. Going to get it with all my ID tonight . If I had not purchased a new wallet , heaven knows when I would have noticed it missing.

Susan had a terrible day off yesterday after someone caused damage to her car. They are trying to locate person who has not come forth yet. It was a nightmare for Susan and Kate. An act of Road Rage...

Good morning everyone, well another start of a week and I hope you are starting that christmas shopping. Time is going fast and only 6 weeks till the big day. I have a start but need to have ideas for my dear granddaughter and the boys, the rest of the family are not to bad to get for this year.

Well I went to a beautiful craft sale on Saturday at Crandall University and it really was one of the nicest ones I have ever been to, a lot of variety and a lot of talent. One idea I got you see in my pictures is taking those last year christmas cards and cutting them up into small squares , adding it to a little piece of cardstock and adding a second piece of blank card stock the same size and putting a hole in both and tie a ribbon and you have a tag that is homemade.

A friend of mine from Newfoundland works for an airline and got on her first trip to Swizerland this week, she shared this beautiful picture of the tree in Autumn colors and the swans .....and I loved them both.

Paula arrives in Town

Paula came down from Oromocto and we enjoyed a nice Salmon supper, only thing I forgot was the aspec I made earlier in the day.

After catching up all the news we ventured off to Anitha's and Rama's for Paula to have a tour of their new home, like the rest of us she was shocked at the closet space they have, I might have 1/4 (if that ) of space in our house. lol

It was good to have our overnight guest who brought me spoon bread and homemade jam which I had for breakfast this morning. Great treat.

Rememberance Day

I was not going to post in honor of all Veterans who served in the war but after looking at the paper and seeing all the pictures of those who died for our country I
remembered having the post card my grandfather George Bannister sent to my grandmother in December 1917 to let her know he was thinking of his little girls 1st birthday, that little girl was my Mother.

My grandfather did not see my Mom until she was 6 years old when he returned from the war. I am so honored to have this treasure.

Its Thursday the 10th of November and what a beautiful day, it went up to 20 today.
Both of us Went to the doctor, looking good for another year, lol got prescriptions renewed for a year and what I liked is my medicare card will be marked for automatic blood work every 3 months instead of going to doctor for paper work, will make it so easy to keep track of. Blood pres sure excellent for Mac and good for me.

Dropped over to Susan's with a coffee and everyone was home, "NO School today" and Susan was pulling her hair when friends of the kids started coming to the door so off we went for a bit of shopping and then home.

Paula is coming tomorrow for the night so going to have salmon, one of her favorites and Malcolms too...

No blog on the 11th, remember our veterans.

Scrap time......

Headed to the scrap room to work on some layouts for my albums I give at Christmas and really had fun working on these.

First of all I was at the new second cup and when I put my cup into the paper holder they provide I realize I had a use for that holder, It became my title of "Happy Halloween" I took it apart and painted it green and highlighted it with black. I was so proud of myself. lol.. On the Lacrosse page I went to computer and found all the embellishments for the layout, really was pleased with how they looked.

Garret's in grade 4 now but I had found the embellishments for grade 3 in Myrtle Beach and didn't get around to doing his page so here it is for his book. It is surprising if your patient enough to go to computer and hunt for these items and saves you a lot on your hobby.

Malcolm went to dentist this morning, 1 filling, 290.00 , whow.... thank goodness for insurance.

My dear Mother passed away 7 years ago today, I remember the day as if it was yesterday.

Thinking of you Mom and wishing you were here with us today. Love you.

A beautiful day today, went for coffee to Tims with Sandy, the birthday girl, and a little walk around the area. Malcolm hung out my clothes while I was gone and they are almost dry...they smell so nice when the fall air hits them.

Wish I could get in the christmas mood to shop but it has not hit yet and so hard to figure what to get the children this year, they either have it or don't like it, lol.

My laptop is in repair shop, my son was using it and bang, a virus or as he calls it malware.....whatever its a virus to me. Hope to have it back today or tomorrow, I like to upload my pictures from it rather than desktop computer.

Comedy time

Had the boys for the, they relaxed and watched some tv and ate halloween junk....
brought their treat bags with them and boy they did well.

Trent was happy that Uncle Malcolm came to his game last night and then they went to
get a slurpee....

Garret had a ball at Crystal Palace and thought he should go back a second day. Right!!...

Today would have been Malcolm's grandmothers 105th Happy Birthday Nana!!.... She was one great Grandmother and a darn good cook. lol..

Clocks fall back.....

Its that time again and don't forget to change your clock. It may take a few nights to get use to it and seeing it get dark at 5 o'clock when your eating supper. Here is a few hints for a good nights sleep.

To help you sleep well this weekend and throughout the year, Attarian offers the following tips on proper sleep habits.

1. Go to bed when you are sleepy and stick to a set rise time. You cannot force yourself to fall asleep, but you can always get up when you need to. Not sleeping in may help consolidate your sleep at night.

3. Exercise can give your body something to rest from and help you stay asleep at night. To allow enough wind-down time, it's best to complete exercise at least two to three hours before going to bed.

4. Take a hot shower then get into a cool bed. The drop in your body's temperature after taking a hot shower and entering a cooler room is a process that naturally mimics day and night, and may help guide you to sleep.

5. Jot down your to-do list for the next day and put it aside so you feel organized and can avoid racing thoughts that may prevent you from falling and staying asleep.

6. Avoid activities such as going online or watching TV that will hold your interest and keep you engaged. Listening to music or reading something that you find mindless in a dimly lit area may help you feel sleepy.

An Amish line of clothes..... Years ago we passed through Amish Country on our return from Myrtle Beach and it was so interesting to see how they live day to day and believe in things we find hard to do without. Here I wanted to point out the work these girls go to washing and hanging out lines of clothes, no electric washer and dryer. No cars, drive there horse and buggy and get where they want to go , no TV's, they enjoy the outdoors and have a fun filled life.

Malcolm and I started out early with our coupons in hand heading for Zellers and the Bay, Walmart and lunch at A and W. Didn't find anything at the Bay but got a couple of gifts at Zellers and a buy one get one lunch at A & W.

Made a pot of chicken a la King for supper with biscuits, one of my favorites. Going to enjoy the evening and look forward to the grandchildren tomorrow night.

Well here are the scrapbooking pages I promised you, now that November has hit I realize I got work to do.

Fall pictures of Kate, a really fun day. Yesterday she went to Mom`s work and she spent the day at Call center without Mom. I guess they were so good to the students who attended and really gave them a great day. Served them a nice lunch and snacks, gave talks on the work force, introduced them to banking. Kate was very excited.

Boys have been very busy with hockey, forgetting their equipment and Mom taking it to them, lol , I remember those days.

Enjoyed coffee with Sandy today and went shopping with Malcolm but only bought a kettle at x-cargo for 9.99 like the one in the house, Its for Myrtle Beach for my coffee.

Had a call from Paula, she is coming next Friday for the night. Will enjoy her company.

Someone mentioned I forgot to put Trent's picture from School up, here it is, he is growing so fast and again I see changes in Trent since attending middle school, You know those cute little remarks the kids say to get the blood pressure up. lol.. Then they add "Just kidding"....

Haloween

It was a quiet night and no rain thank goodness. We had a total of 44 children, it was slow and then about 10 came at once. We also had 2 doggies visit so Malcolm had
a biscuit set aside for them.

We went over to see the grandchildren but they had already left to see their cousin Avery before going out, Susan sent me the pictures I have here but didn't get Garret this year.

Kate was the devil, of all characters Kate picks "The devil", must be the devil in her, lol.. Not sure who Trent is here but when he went out he was "Michael"...from those scary movies.

Gilbert of course had to try on the hat and act foolish with the kids.... The boy with Kate is Kyle a new kid on the block (Sort of speak) I am losing track of all these kids .

First snow of the season

October 30th, first snowfall. Well I thought we had bypassed the snow but at supper time it came down, just a light fluff but its staying for awhile.

The rain was heavy all day, Malcolm made a big pot of Macroni and meat, I made an apple crisp for supper and rice krispies squares in case the children were around while out costumn hunting at Frenchy and Value Village. The boys were easy to get something for but Kate and friend Madison were another story..... Susan was glad when finally they found something. Think I am glad I did not go. lol..

Malcolm off to the hockey game, Malcolm Jr sick on the couch and coughing. Don't think he has had as bad a cold in years. May have a bit of the flu as well. We got our flu shots last week , thank goodness.

Anyway, thats its for today. Here is a verse for my woman friends.

Well it was an absolutely beautiful day here in Moncton but looking on facebook at supper time I hear its starting to snow in and around New Hampshire so hope it does not move this way.

Have a sick son here, he is full of cold and I think a touch of flu. I sure am glad we got the flu shot early this year and hope we do nto get that nasty cold.

Had a great visit from Ed Ryan, Malcolm's Cousin. We had some great laughs and shared some family photos with Ed, he took home some video tapes for me of Sue's Wedding, A birthday Party for Mom on her 76th birthday, and I hope my own little clip of my wedding is on there too.... Nice keepsake for the children to have.

Weekend humor

Its Friday and time to dig out those costumns for Monday. We went to dollar store and it was lined right up with people looking for wigs,makeup and candy, candy and more candy. lol

Had a nice lunch with my husband at House of Lam, the buffet.... always a good meal and really filling. After lunch got dropped off at the hospital to visit a friend and we enjoyed coffee and a chat and it helped pass her time so far from home. Hopefully she will be back in Miramichi by Wednesday next week.

Its hockey time tonight so the boys are off and running.

As a woman, when you have to visit a public toilet, you usually find a line of women, so you smile politely and take your place. Once it's your turn, you check for feet under the cubicle doors.

Every cubicle is occupied.

Finally, a door opens and you dash in, nearly knocking down the woman leaving the cubicle. You get in to find the door won't latch. It doesn't matter, the wait has been so long you are about to wet your pants!

The dispenser for the modern 'seat covers' (invented by someone's Mum, no doubt) is handy, but empty. You would hang your bag on the door hook, if there was one, but there isn't, so you carefully, but quickly, drape it around your neck, (Mum would turn over in her grave if you put it on the FLOOR!) , down with your pants and assume 'The Stance '.

In this position, your ageing, toneless, thigh muscles begin to shake. You'd love to sit down, but having not taken time to wipe the seat or to lay toilet paper on it, you hold 'The Stance'.

To take your mind off your trembling thighs, you reach for what you discover to be the empty toilet paper dispenser.
In your mind, you can hear your mother's voice saying, 'Dear, if you had tried to clean the seat, you would have KNOWN there was no toilet paper!' Your thighs shake more.

You remember the tiny tissue that you blew your nose on yesterday - the one that's still in your bag (the bag around your neck that now you have to hold up trying not to strangle yourself at the same time). That would have to do, so you crumple it in the puffiest way possible. It's still smaller than your thumbnail.

Someone pushes your door open because the latch doesn't work.

The door hits your bag, which is hanging around your neck in front of your chest and you and your bag topple backwards against the tank of the toilet.

'Occupied!' you scream, as you reach for the door, dropping your precious, tiny, crumpled tissue in a puddle on the floor, while losing your footing altogether and sliding down directly onto the TOILET SEAT. It is wet of course. You bolt up, knowing all too well that it's too late. Your bare bottom has made contact with every imaginable germ and life form on the uncovered seat because YOU never laid down toilet paper - not that there was any, even if you had taken time to try.
You know that your mother would be utterly appalled if she knew, because you're certain her bare bottom never touched a public toilet seat because, 'Frankly, dear, you just don't KNOW what kind of diseases you could get '.

By this time, the automatic sensor on the back of the toilet is so confused that it flushes, propelling a stream of water like a fire hose against the inside of the bowl and spraying a fine mist of water that covers your behind and runs down your legs and into your shoes.

The flush somehow sucks everything down with such force and you grab onto the empty toilet paper dispenser for fear of being dragged in too.

At this point, you give up. You're soaked by the spewing water and the wet toilet seat. You're exhausted. You try to wipe with a sweet wrapper you found in your pocket and then slink out inconspicuously to the sinks.

You can't figure out how to operate the taps with the automatic sensors, so you wipe your hands with spit and a dry paper towel and walk past the line of women still waiting
You are no longer able to smile politely to them. A kind soul at the very end of the line points out a piece of toilet paper trailing from your shoe. (Where was that when you NEEDED it?)

You yank the paper from your shoe, plonk it in the woman's hand and tell her warmly, 'Here, you just might need this' .
As you exit, you spot your hubby, who has long since entered, used and left the men's toilet. Annoyed, he asks, 'What took you so long and why is your bag hanging around your neck?'

This is dedicated to women everywhere who deal with any public toilets. It finally explains to the men why it really does take us so long. It also answers that other commonly asked question about why women go to the toilets in pairs. It's so that the other girl can hold the door, hang on to your bag and hand you Kleenex under the door.

This HAD to be written by a woman! No one else could describe it so accurately.

A neighbours house

Kate called me awhile ago pretending she skipped school, my heart sank and then with a laugh she said the power went out and then sent everyone home as it would take the day to fix.

Halloween decorations

Its surprising how far some people go to decorate and I seen these ideas and had to share with you. I use to decorate myself for halloween with the dummy sitting outside in a lawn chair and a black cat from my neighbours use to love to get up on the dummy's lap for a rest, it was quite the picture. lol..

I do love fall and halloween and seeing all the different ways people do decorate but other than a few pumpkins, door decoration I have cut way down.

Today was a bit brighter outside, a truely fall day and I went to visit a friend in hospital and did up some mail which I had been been meaning to do and got it away. Went to Coffee with Anitha and had a beautiful bbq supper my husband prepared while I was away. (Ribs)....

Scotland

My cousin put pictures on facebook this morning and I wanted to share with you, they visited Black House Village (Museum) Lewis Scotland and took a few pictures to share, I really laughed at the one where George is joining the band on the beach, funny as he is very musical. I guess it was very chilly on the beach. Note the roofs.

This weekend we dropped out to the mall to look for a shirt for Malcolm and met several people in the food court, stopped and chatted for awhile and decided to have lunch before dropping a coffee over to Susan.

Its raining today so a good day to scrap, wonder if I'll get down there for at least one layout....after my soap. lol

Still some fall color

Did you ever have a wasted day? Well this am I went to scrap room to start a search for my shading tool, I use it all the time. Checked every drawer, baskets, you name it I check it. After pulling out the couch , getting in back of desk to find a few other treasures I figured it went into the garbage and then-------------I sat down and said forget it , looked down and seen something popping out at me, yes it was the shading tool just under front of desk. A whole morning gone. lol

Malcolm got an appointment with dentist for this afternoon, he chipped a tooth yesterday . Think I'll get a fall picture layout done and watch my Young and the Restless. Supper is all made, leftover stew..... lol

Driving through fundy Kate snapped a picture of the beach at low tide, something not everyone has the opportunity to see. We had the opportunity of this sight for 13 years at the cottage and never got tired of it.

Had some fall pictures developed on way home at Shoppers and we enjoyed the stew I made this AM for supper, second day is even better so supper is ready for tomorrow too. lol

Fall day drive to fundy

It was a beautiful day to go for a ride and see some trees with all the colors of fall. We headed to fundy park where we once had a cottage. Kate came along for the drive and had a visit to Kelly's bake shop for some sticky buns, smell the same as they did 40 years ago.

It was quiet in the village and all the gift shops are closed now but we went up to see the golf course and snapped a few pictures 0f Kate throwing the leaves. The boys were waiting when we got back to go for supper and Garret came back to the house with us for the night.

Just this morning while aving coffee with Sandy we both commented on how fast the weeks go by, its like its Monday and then Friday...... goes too fast I'd say.

Well sharing my scrapbook layouts for this week, The rookies is one Dolly made and I liked it because I have lots of loose leaves downstairs I can use for a similar layout.

Garret spent the night, no school today. Trent went to a friends and Kate is at home, called once to try and talk me into a shopping trip. lol She keeps trying.....

No plans for weekend, soon time for trick or treaters to get into their costumes. I found lots of stickers for their pages in my supplies..

Andrea's wedding

Wanted to share the pictures of Kim's daughters wedding taken in St Andrews , NB.
They had a beautiful day to celebrate their wedding. These are pictures taken by a friend, anxious to see the photographers pictures at a later date. Andrea will continue nursing in Fredericton until a position comes up in St. Andrews where her new husband is working in engineering.

Seems like yesterday Kim was looking for a babysitter for the girls and now they are all grown up so I guess we are older also.... lol..

Fall wedding

This morning I went to the computer to check my facebook and came across these wedding pictures taken in Bathurst NB by a friend and thought I'd share these ideas with you, what a lovely idea they had for an inexpensive way of decorating.

Lemonade was served to all guests before the wedding, games like lawn bowling, etc were set up to entertain guests while pictures were being taken, sunflowers were used as aisle decorations as well as centerpieces, bubbles were in bottles at the end of the each row and the old bike was found along the side of the road and painted to decorate the entrance to the wedding.

Just got a call from Susan, boys are home sick and want to come to Nanny and Grampies so we will either be sick or enjoy the boys for the day. lol....

We can have the boys for the delivery of a large Tim Hortons coffee with Milk and twin.......

Corn Maze

Started the day out at Sears and actually got a couple of christmas gifts, had a few good sales on.

We went for a drive to see the leaves and stopped at the Green Pig, a small farmers market, they were putting on a corn maze and the families were having a great time. We bought a loaf of homemade bread .

Have a roast abd vegetables in slow cooker for supper, smells good.

WET PANTS

Come with me to a third grade classroom..... There is a nine-year-old kid sitting at his desk and all of a sudden, there is a puddle between his feet and the front of his pants are wet. He thinks his heart is going to stop because he cannot possibly imagine how this has happened. It's never happened before, and he knows that when the boys find out he will never hear the end of it. When the girls find out, they'll never speak to him again as long as he lives.

The boy believes his heart is going to stop; he puts his head down and prays this prayer, 'Dear God, this is an emergency! I need help now! Five minutes from now I'm dead meat.' He looks up from his prayer and here comes the teacher with a look in her eyes that says he has been discovered. As the teacher is walking toward him, a class mate named Susie is carrying a goldfish bowl that is filled with water. Susie trips in front of the teacher and inexplicably dumps the bowl of water in the boy's lap.

The boy pretends to be angry, but all the while is saying to himself, 'Thank you, Lord! Thank you, Lord!'

Now all of a sudden, instead of being the object of ridicule, the boy is the object of sympathy. The teacher rushes him downstairs and gives him gym shorts to put on while his pants dry out. All the other children are on their hands and knees cleaning up around his desk. The sympathy is wonderful. But as life would have it, the ridicule that should have been his has been transferred to someone else - Susie.

She tries to help, but they tell her to get out. You've done enough, you klutz!' Finally, at the end of the day, as they are waiting for the bus, the boy walks over to Susie and whispers, 'You did that on purpose, didn't you?' Susie whispers back, 'I wet my pants once too.'

May God help us see the opportunities that are always around us to do good..

Remember.....Just going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in your garage makes you a car.

Apple's

Its apple picking time and the deer are enjoying a treat this time of year as well. I remember when we had the cottage sitting and watching the deer come out at dusk to
snack on the apples that had fallen on the ground on the golf course, then we headed to the dump to watch the bears come for their evening treats. It was like the drive in theatre all the cars lined up to see the movies, "The bears".... lol..
That was our entertainment in the country.

Had a visit today from Paula, she was on her way to Truro for meetings and dropped in for lunch, if you have never had the canned chicken from Costco, it is great for sandwiches and could be used in casseroles to.

Made 2 apple pies today, made the kitchen smell so good.

The sun is shining bright and we have just finished a beautiful turkey and ham supper with all the family, it was good to see the kids eat so well, they were hungry and really happy when Grampie brought out the ice cream from downstairs.

Garret went to the hockey game with Grampie, Kate and Trent went home with their parents, Kate was going to stay the night but when I had nothing really planned she
decided to go home.

Tomorrow Anitha and Rama are coming down for supper to celebrate the holiday.

Really enjoyed the pumpkin pie while Malcolm settled for apple pie.

20 year service to RBC

Its so hard to believe but yesterday marked the 20th anniversary of Susan working for Royal Bank. Where did time go?

We went over last night to see the gifts she received from the call center and her manager, hard to believe they gave such lovely gifts compared to what they usually give at branches but she received a 3 pc set of Samonsite luggage, a gift certificate for Chapters worth 20.00, a 100.00 gift certificate from the Keg, a $100.00 gift certificate for faces, fingers and feet and a bouquet of flowers. I was shocked. Can't imagine what they give when you retire.

Making apple pies again today, Anitha was good enough to give me apples so I am making some pies for her as well. Yesterday I went to grocery store with Anitha, when we returned the pumpkin I bought rolled out of the van and it was quite a sight seeing me run after a pumpkin, on top of that a lady walking her dog came charging after the missing pumpkin when her dog dragged thinking it was a ball. When we finally caught it I said "Can't believe I am chasing a pumpkin", she replied "I can't believe I am helping you." lol....

When they said "Hot chocolate" they meant hot chocolate. lol The new color of the bathroom. I really like it and it gives you a comfy feeling.

I also added a picture of the new bedspread I finally put in spare bedroom, ( which I sometimes sneak into to watch some tv) and enjoy the new matress on the bed from Costco.

Anitha brought down some apples she picked last weekend in Nova Scotia so that will keep me busy for a bit making pies, made a few last night for holiday weekend.

scrapbooking

Still raining 4 days in a row so a bit of scrapping done and of course the bathroom upstairs is finished.

I scrapped the page where Pat and I went downtown Newcastle and got a picture in the park, it was a beautiful sunny day.

The other layout is Gilbert keeping a close eye on the BBQ while hamburgers cooked, he sat there as good as gold just happy to get a dog biscuit as a treat.

Kate coming tomorrow night for a sleepover, a trip to dentist Thursday morning up the street from our house and then on to school....

Autumn colors in Ontario

Well in New Brunswick we are having our 3rd dreary day but the colors of Fall sent to me by a friend in Ontario warms the feeling of Autumn.

Malcolm has been busy painting, Yes, finally we got the right paint for the bathroom and its on the walls, now if I can keep him going. lol... Bit of touch ups to be done and fixtures to be put on and then next project, Downstairs bathroom. Will send a picture of it when its all complete.

I did some scrapbooking which I will share in next few days, got a layout done for myself and one for Susan's book of Gilbert and hopefully tonight I may attempt another layout.

Family reunite

For the first time in a number of years Malcolm's Aunt Florence was surrounded by all her family together in Calgary where she now resides. Malcolm's uncle Donnie will be so happy to see them all together again, I saved the pictures to take to him next time I am in Saint John.

Hallie lives in Calgary, Lynn lives in North Carolina, Lorraine lives in Calgary and Nancy in Saint John. So nice to see them all and have a picture.

Had a nice visit with Malcolm's nephew last night and to meet Colin's girlfiend Vanassa, it has been 4 years at least since we seen Colin.

I added a picture of the a group of students from Acadia University whom formed a Number 7 on the beach in Albert County to represent the 7 wonders of the world which hopefully the Hopewell Rocks will be a part of, another group of mud people. lol..

Birds of a feather

I was sitting talking nto Susan when I looked up and seen the birds all gathered in a line on the telephone wires across the street, they stayed there most of the afternoon.

Had enough apples to make another pie so I figured I may as well prepare it, good thing I did because got a message from Malcolm's nephew Colin that he and his girlfriend were dropping in this evening so I told him just in time for homemade pie.

Its raining all day but after the week we had its good for the grass to get a good soaking.

Garret and Kate

This is the school pictures taken this year, Garret in grade 4 and Kate in grade 9.
Trent's pictures will be taken on Tuesday. With all 3 going to different schools its different times for ead one.

Had another lovely walk today, the air smells so fresh and the leaves are quickly falling. Went up to the mall and got my haircut, you can always tell when its time usually exactly 6 weeks. Dropped into Michael's, got that 40% burning a hole in my pocket and today is the last day for this one. Got some liquid pearl to try out on a layout and paper was 3/1.00 so had to get a few, not that I really need paper. lol.

Cooking a meatloaf for supper, may start a few apples pies later on.
